Group Home Manager

Summary/Objectives

The Program Manager has administrative responsibility for the operation and personnel management of the Group Home. The group home living site are residences in a community-based setting housing 8 individuals with developmental disabilities. This position will require the maintaining of a professional relationship with the individual’s family, friends, and other agency personnel.  Provides either directly or indirectly the provision and coordination of a variety of supports for people receiving services that will ensure their health and safety. Team work with co-workers, staff and supervisors is important in order to ensure that clients needs are met.  

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week); Days and hours vary with flexibility to work evenings, overnights and weekends when necessary to meet the needs of the program.  Fill in for absent employees when needed.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree preferred in human or social services or related field
  • Three or more years of acceptable supervisory and management experience in the human services field with specific experience in human services program operations
  • Equivalent combination of education and management experience may be considered
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel and other relevant applications

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a High school diploma or GED
  • Have a valid social security number
  • Be able to read, write, and understand English in order to deliver required care, record documentation, and maintain/promote a safety environment.
  • Be able to effectively communicate in English and be easily understood by the person served and other professionals in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
  • Have and maintain state minimum vehicle insurance coverage in your name
  • Have a reliable vehicle in good repair
  • Have and maintain an Acceptable Bureau of Motor Vehicles driving record (6 points or less)
  • Must possess or be able to complete requirement for First Aid/CPR Certification and Medication Administration Certification and Provider Training
  • Must be able to pass all applicable background checks
  • Must be able to safely utilize transport equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing direct personal care to individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) as well as assisting with person centered practices, individual programming, active treatment, internal and external activities and direct medical care. Teamwork with co-workers and supervisors is important in order to ensure client needs are met.

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely utilize transport equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers.
  • CPR/FA, Medication Administration and Provider Training certification required within the first 30 days of hire.
