Halom Means Dream

Our founders’ and families’ dream came true when Halom House was established in 1985. Halom House continues to offer unparalleled care for the individuals we serve and their loved ones.

Halom House is dedicated to providing inclusive, safe, community-based residential options for adults of all faiths with developmental disabilities. Halom House focuses on the safety, wellbeing, and creativity of the whole individual by:

promoting independence and self worth;
fostering client driven programming;
assisting in creating fulfilling and meaningful lives;
providing an atmosphere that offers its Jewish clientele the opportunity to embrace and honor their Jewish heritage

To me, Halom House represents the very best in our society. Our goal, our mission, is to care and provide for the most vulnerable people in our community - to make sure, through our organization's efforts, that they have as safe and as meaningful lives as possible. It has been a privilege working with our board and professional staff to help make that a true reality for our clients.

Halom House is an agency like no other - caring and providing care for individuals with intellectual disabilities who are both Jewish and non-Jewish in an exceptional environment.

Our son has been a Halom House resident for nine years. He loves living there, his independence, and the friends he has made. As his family, we are grateful for the quality of his care and considerate staff.

I have lived at Halom House for 30 years. I like the staff and residents. I am glad I live at Halom House. My roommates are my friends. I am happy I live with my best friend Marci. The staff helps me when I ask for help. They take me places I enjoy going to.

When I learned about what Halom House did, I was hooked. I continue to marvel at what they do for the residents' personalities, talents, and strengths. Halom House allows them to thrive.

My family, Halom House, my friends, and my job at Kroger are most important to me. I am proud of myself because I live in my own home and work at Kroger. The Halom House DSP’s encourage me to believe in myself and make choices independently.

Halom House has been a wonderful agency for Lauren and our family. Lauren enjoys spending time with her Halom House friends and DSP’s.
